Bynefit Inc. ("Bynefit," "we," "us," or "our") operates bynefit.org and related services. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in Georgia (EIN 85-3107828). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly:

• Contact information — name, email address, phone number, and organization (when you contact us, donate, or sign up for communications).
• Donation information — payment is processed by third-party processors (PayPal via Bynli.com); we receive transaction confirmations but do not store payment card details.
• Mobile/SMS opt-in data — phone number, name, and consent record when you opt in to receive text messages.
• Service request information — details about your organization or needs when you request services or list a resource.

We also collect limited technical data automatically: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps, used for security and to improve the site.

2. How We Use Information

• To deliver services, fulfill donations, and respond to your requests.
• To send communications you have opted in to receive (email updates, SMS notifications, impact reports).
• To comply with legal obligations, including IRS reporting and grant administration.
• To maintain the security and integrity of our services.

3. SMS / Text Messaging

Opt-in. You receive SMS messages from Bynefit only after expressly opting in (via our web form at bynefit.org/sms-optin, in person, or by texting a keyword to a Bynefit number).

Frequency. Message frequency varies. Typically fewer than 8 messages per month per opted-in user.

Charges. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

Opt-out. Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at racean@bynefit.org.

Supported carriers. AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, and most major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share information only:

• With service providers (payment processor, email/SMS platform, hosting) under contracts limiting their use to providing our services.
• When required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.
• With your consent, when you ask us to (e.g., introducing you to a partner organization).

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations (including donor records required by IRS rules), resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. SMS opt-in consent records are retained as long as you remain opted in, plus a reasonable period after to demonstrate prior consent if required by carriers or regulators.

6. Your Rights & Choices

• Unsubscribe from email (link in every email) or SMS (reply STOP) at any time.
• Request a copy or deletion of your personal data by emailing racean@bynefit.org.
• If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).

7. Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No system is 100% secure; please use strong passwords and notify us of any suspected unauthorized access.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on this page.
